It never fails. Never ever. Just when I think I have every local Seattle soul/funk 45 there is to have, another pops up!
This discovery is by Kayano released in 1985 and definitely up there as one of my top favorite local records. Very rare as only 3 known copies have surfaced and he himself owns one of those. Apparently according to him it was pressed in a quantity of 1000 and half of them ended up being thrown in a dumpster and destroyed forever, 100 copies to radio promotion and the remainder to a record distributor.
Kayano not only does music but paints pictures as well. I'm going to try to catch up with him to see some of his work soon and get the scoop on this modern soul masterpiece that struggled to see the light of day.
He told me he played all the instruments and did the vocals solo on this. This is the never ending story of artists trying to leave their mark on society and never getting discovered. For each and every star there are thousands that never get the shine.
There are regional local records from just about every city on earth you just have to put in the work to dig them up. This is one of them.
